Our Story
Founded in 1986 by Dr. Robert H. Jackson and Sister Margaret McCaffrey, the Martin Luther King Health Center & Pharmacy began as a Saturday morning clinic to address the needs of uninsured patients suffering from preventable diseases. With a commitment to providing quality healthcare, MLK Health Center has become a vital safety-net for those lacking resources, holding the first Charitable Pharmacy permit issued by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.
Impact
Each year, MLK Health Center serves over 1,600 patients, providing services valued at over $14 million and dispensing approximately 20,000 prescriptions worth over $2 million.
