Our Story
Founded in 1922 and renamed in honor of Dr. King in 1968, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center serves at-risk individuals, families, and seniors in Newport County, RI. The center fights hunger, promotes health, educates children, supports families, and engages seniors, aiming to improve the economic, social, and physical well-being of the community.
Impact
In 2023, the MLK Community Center served 6,232 clients, provided $222,250 in education scholarships, and delivered over 30,000 hot breakfasts to mostly homeless clients, showcasing its significant impact on the community.
