Our Story
Founded in 1982, Martin House was established to address the urgent needs of homeless individuals in the Norwich - New London area, particularly those discharged from the Norwich Hospital. With the support of the State of Connecticut, an empty building on the Norwich Hospital Campus was transformed into a safe haven for low-income individuals, primarily those with mental health challenges. In 1998, after significant renovations, Martin House relocated to the Uncas on Thames campus, continuing its mission to provide residence, meals, and essential support services. Over the years, Martin House has positively impacted the lives of over 800 adults, primarily in their 40s and 50s, guiding them towards independent living.
