Our Story

Founded in 2013, the Mars Hero Fund began as the Legion of Mars, a Mardi Gras krewe dedicated to honoring Louisiana’s veterans, active military, and their families. This vibrant community initiative celebrates the sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients and Gold Star families by inviting them to the LOM Grand Ball and providing complimentary rides in the LOM Parade. As the mission expanded to include first responders, the Mars Hero Fund was officially established in August 2023, continuing the legacy of gratitude and support.

Impact

Over the past 12 years, the Mars Hero Fund has provided vital support to thousands of veterans and military families during financial crises and while deployed, ensuring they receive the assistance they deserve.
