Our Story
The Maroon Arts Group (MAG) was founded in 2015 by a passionate collective of artists and community members who sought to fill the void left by local institutions neglecting African American art. The organization gained recognition after successfully bringing the groundbreaking play 'A Real Nigga Show' to Columbus, Ohio, igniting community engagement and addressing cultural disparities. In 2016, MAG became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and has since launched numerous initiatives, including learning communities, poetry events, artist residencies, and gallery shows, all aimed at normalizing Black art and creativity.
