About Marine Resources Development Foundation
Established in 1970, coinciding with the first Earth Day, the Marine Resources Development Foundation (MRDF) has been at the forefront of marine education and conservation. Founded by Ian G. Koblick, MRDF has dedicated itself to enhancing our understanding of the ocean through innovative underwater habitats, educational programs, and collaborative events. Relocating to Key Largo in the mid-1980s, the foundation has focused on its MarineLab Education Programs and ongoing research initiatives.
Impact of MRDF
In 2023, MRDF hosted nearly 7,000 students and teachers from 32 states and territories, demonstrating a significant impact on marine science education. Additionally, 1,700 students were reached virtually, showcasing the foundation's commitment to accessible marine education.
