Marine Education Initiative
EIN: 45-3862555 · Delray Beach, FL
Our Story
In 2007, Lucas and Nicholas Metropulos recognized a pressing issue in their community: food insecurity. They began collecting surplus fish from local fishing events and donating it to soup kitchens, which not only helped those in need but also educated youth on responsible fishing practices. In response to the pandemic in 2020, Nick developed the Marine Education Initiative, focusing on ocean conservation through aquaponics and sustainable farming, fostering a self-reliant local food system.
Impact
The Marine Education Initiative has made a significant difference, educating over 35,000 youth and providing more than 100,000 meals to those in need. Additionally, the organization has assisted over 10,000 disaster survivors, showcasing its commitment to food security and marine conservation.
