Our Story
Founded in 1967 by Sandy Kahanamoku and Steven Kekuewa, the Marina del Rey Outrigger Canoe Club emerged from the merger of the Santa Monica and Kai Nalu Outrigger Canoe Clubs. With a legacy of pioneering achievements, including the first women's team to cross the 31-mile Catalina Channel in 1971, MDROCC is dedicated to preserving the sport of outrigger canoe paddling.
