Our Story

Founded in 1980 by Ellen Straus and Phyllis Faber, Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) was established to safeguard Marin County's agricultural land from development pressures. With a coalition of ranchers and environmentalists, MALT has permanently protected over 58,739 acres of farmland through innovative conservation easements.
