Literacy Now

Our Story

Founded in 2006, Literacy Now, originally known as Making It Better, aims to help children rise above their circumstances through tutoring, mentoring, and essential literacy services. From serving just one school with 91 students, the organization has expanded its reach to 2,500 children and their families across 16 Houston and 4 Aldine ISD Title I elementary campuses.

Impact

Literacy Now provides vital reading readiness and intervention programs, parent engagement initiatives, and trained volunteer mentors through its Lunch Bunch program. These efforts contribute significantly to children's long-term academic success, empowering them to read at grade level and increasing their chances of graduating high school.
