Empowering Maine's Children Through Education

The Maine Children’s Scholarship Fund (MCSF) was established in response to a significant need for educational scholarships in Maine. Inspired by the Children’s Scholarship Fund of New York City, MCSF began its journey in 2000, aiming to provide financial assistance to low-income families seeking quality education for their children. With a mission to enhance educational opportunities, MCSF offers scholarships to children from kindergarten through twelfth grade, covering up to 75% of tuition costs for public or private schools, or reimbursing home schooling expenses.

Making a Difference in Maine

Since its inception, MCSF has grown remarkably. In its first year, the fund awarded 27 scholarships to 14 families. Fast forward to today, MCSF proudly serves 184 students across 62 families, demonstrating a commitment to improving educational access for those in need. The scholarships are available to families with incomes at or below the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder a child's educational journey.
