The Madison Eagle Christmas Fund (MECF) began 52 years ago when Barbara Valk and her family chose to remember a small number of senior citizens by delivering holiday gifts. Partnering with Louise Easton, the new owner and editor of the Madison Eagle newspaper, this initiative blossomed into a charity that now supports hundreds of families and seniors in Madison.
In December 2023, the MECF provided grocery gift cards to 110 families, including 203 adults and 197 children, along with 75 senior citizens. Over $71,000 was spent on gifts, supporting local businesses and ensuring that those in need experience the joy of the holiday season.
