Our Story
The Macedonia Family Resource Center was founded to address the pressing needs of the Macedonia community. Established in response to a 2003 UNCG study highlighting illiteracy as a major issue, the Center began with support from Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and local residents. Initially focused on educational support for children through a Head Start Program, the Center quickly expanded its offerings. Today, it provides a variety of youth programs, including cooking classes, dance, video and photography workshops, and baseball, alongside the Infinity and Beyond summer camp, which combines learning with fun to keep children engaged year-round.
Recognizing that community challenges affect all age groups, Macedonia broadened its services to support families comprehensively. This includes launching a satellite library for computer access, offering GED and ESL classes in partnership with local institutions, and establishing a neighborhood association to ensure community voices are heard. The Macedonia Family Resource Center continues to provide a comprehensive array of services designed to build long-term resilience and empowerment, enriching lives through education, support, and a deep commitment to fostering community growth.
