Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice
EIN: 85-1703023 · Boston, MA
Our Story
The Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice was founded by attorneys Jill Seeber and Daniel Santiago, inspired by the harrowing journey of Mabel, a survivor of severe torture in Central America. After being returned to Mexico under the 'Remain in Mexico' policy, Mabel and her daughter faced unimaginable challenges. With the help of dedicated legal professionals, Mabel secured asylum, leading to the establishment of the Mabel Center. This organization is committed to providing pro bono legal services to asylum-seeking families, ensuring that women and children fleeing violence and torture can find refuge in the United States.
Impact
In FY24, the Mabel Center has served over 700 clients, providing essential legal representation and support to families seeking asylum. The organization has successfully secured asylum for more than 50 individuals in the past four years, even in the face of challenging conditions at border tent courts.
