Our Story

The journey of Lyric Theatre Company began on May 1, 1974, with the debut of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the historic Flynn stage. What started as a small gathering of friends seeking a theatrical outlet has blossomed into one of the largest volunteer-based community theatre groups in the United States. With nearly 400 dedicated volunteers contributing over 20,000 hours each season, Lyric Theatre Company is committed to producing high-quality musicals and performing arts while promoting diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.

Impact

Lyric Theatre Company generates a significant economic impact, contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the community annually. With an audience of 15,000 each year, the organization has adapted to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic by becoming a volunteer hub, producing over 24,000 face masks, and expanding its programming to include virtual presentations and Theatre for Young Audiences.
