Our Story

In 1963, a dedicated group of parents came together with a singular vision: to create a safe and supportive environment for their adult children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. With the help of the local Junior League chapter, Lynchburg Sheltered Industries was established, becoming the first organization of its kind in the area. Over the years, this nonprofit has adapted to regulatory changes and community needs while remaining steadfast in its mission to provide a safe workplace for adults with disabilities.
