Our Story

Lynchburg Beacon of Hope emerged from the Lynchburg Community Dialogue on Race and Racism, where community members identified the urgent need for equal educational opportunities. Established in 2011, this organization is dedicated to ensuring fair access to higher education and technical training for Lynchburg’s youth, particularly those who are economically disadvantaged and first-generation students.

Impact

Since its inception, Lynchburg Beacon of Hope has increased the percentage of seniors graduating with a post-secondary plan by 25%. The organization has also provided scholarships to numerous first-generation students, significantly enhancing educational opportunities for the community's youth.
