Our Story

Founded in 1972 by Richard Lewis and his family, the Lycoming Animal Protection Society began as a backyard shelter for stray cats. What started with a single rescue from a college dorm has blossomed into a dedicated nonprofit organization. LAPS is committed to animal welfare, operating as a no-kill shelter where every cat is guaranteed a loving home for life.
