The Lunchbox Ohio was founded by Katie Holmes and Bethy Spangler to combat childhood hunger in Central Ohio, particularly in the Hilltop, Franklinton, and South End neighborhoods. Launched in the summer of 2017, this initiative uses a food truck to provide nutritious lunches to children lacking access to summer food programs.
Since its inception, The Lunchbox Ohio has distributed nearly 3,000 lunches each summer, serving 100 lunches every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This effort significantly alleviates food insecurity for children in the Columbus area.
Donations to The Lunchbox Ohio directly support the purchasing of food and supplies necessary to provide free meals to children during the summer months, helping to combat food insecurity in the community.
