About Luna Composition Lab

Founded in 2016 by composers Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reid, Luna Composition Lab is dedicated to providing mentorship, education, and resources for young female, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming composers aged 13-18. This unique initiative is the only one of its kind in the United States, achieving national recognition for its commitment to celebrating underrepresented voices in music.

Impact

Luna Composition Lab has successfully supported young composers, with 75% of alumni pursuing composition in college and 100% remaining active in music. The program has garnered attention from major media outlets, highlighting its significant role in shaping the future of music.
