Our Story
Founded in 2004, the LuMind IDSC Foundation emerged from the groundbreaking decoding of the human genome, which opened new avenues for biomedical research focused on individuals with Down syndrome. Originally named the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation, it has grown to become the largest non-governmental funding source for Down syndrome research in the U.S. Following a merger with the Research Down Syndrome Foundation and the International Down Syndrome Community, the LuMind IDSC Foundation now champions research and support initiatives that empower the Down syndrome community.
