Our Story

Luke’s Wings was co-founded in January 2008 by Sarah Wingfield and Fletcher Gill after a chance meeting with U.S. Army Sergeant Luke Shirley at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. This organization was established to provide complimentary airfare for the families of wounded, ill, and injured service members, ensuring that loved ones can be present during critical recovery periods.

Impact

Since its inception, Luke’s Wings has facilitated thousands of flights, connecting families with service members across military medical facilities, VA medical centers, and hospice facilities nationwide.
