Founded in 1983 by Miss Laura B. McCray, Luke 14:12 Soup Kitchen is the oldest continually operating soup kitchen in Nashville. It began with a simple act of kindness when Miss Laura served a pot of soup to two individuals in need. After her passing, an independent board was established to guide the organization, which has since evolved to hire staff from the homeless community to assist in meal preparation.
Luke 14:12 provides hot, nutritious meals to the hungry, homeless, and working poor of Nashville, uniting diverse faith communities to combat food insecurity.
