Our Story

The Lubbock Roots Historical Arts Council, originally the Roots Committee, was established in 1978 to celebrate and share the African American experience in the Early American West. After a period of dormancy, the council was revitalized in 2007 under Eric Strong's leadership, focusing on enriching the community through arts and humanities.

Impact

Through various arts and humanities programs, the council has successfully engaged the community, awarded scholarships to high school graduates, and revitalized local engagement.
