About the Lubbock Dream Center

The Lubbock Dream Center was founded by Jackie and Linda White, pastors of Church on the Rock, with a vision to uplift disadvantaged families in the Lubbock community. This vision took root when a group of dedicated volunteers began cleaning the streets and connecting with those in need. Recognizing the urgent requirement for food assistance, a food truck was donated, leading to the establishment of a mobile food pantry that operates every Saturday.

Building Community and Trust

As the initiative gained momentum, it attracted support from local churches, non-profits, and businesses, fostering a spirit of unity in Lubbock. The purchase of land and the construction of the Lubbock Dream Center building in 2010 marked a significant milestone, allowing the organization to serve the community more effectively.

Expanding Services

In 2013, the Lubbock Dream Center received a generous $1.75 million grant from the JT and Margaret Talkington Foundation, enabling the construction of the Talkington Life Center. This facility opened in April 2015 and expanded the center's capacity from serving 750 to 1,600 individuals weekly, providing essential food and clothing services.

Addressing Critical Needs

Despite these achievements, a pressing need for structured housing for women in crisis became evident. In response, the Lubbock Dream Center launched the New Legacy Home for Women, supported by another $1.5 million grant from the Talkington Foundation. Opened in the fall of 2018, this home offers a safe, faith-based environment for women seeking a second chance, with a commitment to a 15-month program aimed at personal transformation.

Since the opening of the Talkington Life Center, the Lubbock Dream Center has significantly increased its outreach, now serving 1,600 people each week. This growth has allowed the organization to provide vital services, including food and clothing, to families in need.
