Our Story

The Lower Providence Fire Department was established in 1945 by dedicated residents who recognized the need for fire protection in Lower Providence Township. Initially serving a population of less than 10,000, the department has grown to serve over 23,500 residents and a significant industrial population. This entirely volunteer-based organization relies on community support through fundraising events like the Annual Firemen’s Fair.

For over 75 years, the Lower Providence Fire Department has successfully provided fire protection and emergency services, responding to thousands of calls and ensuring the safety of residents and businesses in the area.
