Our Story
Founded in 1993 by Shirley Tollefson, Love INC of Skagit County emerged from a vision to unite local churches in service to those in need. With a handful of dedicated congregations, the organization began its journey by establishing the Furniture Ministry, which provided essential items like beds, furniture, and medical equipment to individuals lacking access to these necessities. This initiative highlighted the potential of the Christian community to meet both physical and spiritual needs, fostering hope through relationships and support.
In 2003, the Loving Hope Mentoring Program was launched, allowing volunteers to engage in one-on-one mentorship with families, guiding them in financial management aligned with Christian values. The introduction of the Homes of Hope transitional housing ministry in 2007 further expanded Love INC's capacity to assist those in need, providing a safe haven for families working to regain stability.
Today, Love INC of Skagit County collaborates with nearly 80 churches, creating a robust network that empowers Christians to effectively serve their communities. This collective effort has transformed countless lives, demonstrating the power of faith in action.
