The L.D. Barksdale Sickle Cell Foundation, founded in 1974 by Louvenia D. Barksdale, is dedicated to assisting individuals affected by sickle cell disease. With a commitment to serving 15 counties in the Upstate and Midlands regions of South Carolina, the foundation has positively impacted over 20,000 patients through comprehensive testing, outreach programs, and patient assistance.
