Our Story

Louisiana Swamp Base is a national conservation and high adventure recreation program established in 2010 by the Evangeline Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. This initiative commemorates the Centennial of Scouting while committing to immerse thousands of youth annually in the unique environment and culture of the Atchafalaya Swamp.

Impact

To date, through annual events, the Council has planted 53,000 native trees and removed an estimated 117,000 lbs. of trash from the Atchafalaya Swamp, thanks to the dedication of over 350 volunteers during events like the Atchafalaya Basin Sweep.
