The Alexandria Museum of Art, established in 1977, serves as a vibrant cultural hub in Central Louisiana. Originally part of the Central Louisiana Art Association, the Museum has evolved significantly over the decades. In 1995, the "Jewel on the Red" campaign was launched to raise $6 million for a new museum and renovations, culminating in the expansion of the Museum in 1998. The Museum was recognized as an Outstanding Arts Organization in 1999 and merged with the Louisiana State University at Alexandria Foundation in 2006, enhancing its resources and community impact.
