Our Story

Founded in 1983 by Juan J. ‘Juango’ Gutiérrez and Marcial Reyes Arvelo, Los Pleneros de la 21 (LP21) is dedicated to celebrating Puerto Rican culture through the vibrant traditions of Bomba and Plena. Over the past 40 years, LP21 has become a beacon of Afro-Puerto Rican cultural expression in New York City and beyond, fostering community connections and cultural appreciation.
