Empowering Female Solo Artists
Promoting Artistic Diversity
Providing Educational Outreach

Our Story

The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF) was founded in 1993 by Adilah Barnes and Miriam Reed to create a supportive platform for female solo artists. Inspired by the Women’s Theatre Festival in Philadelphia, LAWTF has grown to become the oldest and longest-running festival of its kind in Los Angeles, showcasing diverse women in theatre and expanding its outreach programs.

Impact

Since its inception, LAWTF has presented nearly 700 solo performers from around the globe, reflecting the rich diversity of Los Angeles. The organization has also served over 5,000 youths through educational outreach programs, empowering women artists through multidisciplinary performances and community engagement.
