Our Story
The Los Angeles Police K-9 Fund was established alongside the LAPD K-9 Unit, which began in 1980 with just two search dogs. The remarkable success of these initial dogs led to the official formation of the K-9 Unit, which has now expanded to include 18 Tactical Search K-9 Teams and 6 Gun Detection K-9 Teams. Over the past 35 years, the K-9 Fund has been instrumental in donating the majority of the dogs utilized by the Metro Division K-9 Unit.
