Our Story

Founded in 2015 by John Negrete, the Los Angeles Police Cadet Scholarship Foundation was born from a desire to give back to the community that shaped him. Growing up in South Central Los Angeles, John found guidance and support from local LAPD officers. Joining the LAPD Explorer program at just 14 years old, he was inspired to pursue a career in law enforcement. After earning a degree in Deaf Studies from California State University, Northridge, John returned to serve as an LAPD Officer in his own neighborhood, embodying the spirit of mentorship and community service.
