About Los Angeles Music and Art School

Founded in 1945 by visionary educator Pearle Irene Odell, the Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) has been a beacon of hope and creativity for the underserved youth of East Los Angeles. Initially operating from two small Victorian-style homes, LAMusArt quickly outgrew its humble beginnings due to the overwhelming demand for arts education. In the mid-1960s, with the support of the community, the school moved to its current location on East Third Street, where it has flourished ever since.
