Our Story

For over 30 years, Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen & Pantry has been a beacon of hope in the Chicopee, MA community. Founded by a group of dedicated citizens, the organization began as the Chicopee Emergency Food & Fuel (CHIEFF) to address the urgent needs of the hungry and disadvantaged. In 1989, the Chicopee Soup Kitchen opened its doors, and in 2001, it was renamed to honor Lorraine Houle, the first director. Today, Lorraine’s continues to grow, offering meal services, a food pantry, Christmas meals, Pop-Up Pantries, and free monthly health clinics.
