About Lord and Schryver Conservancy

The Lord & Schryver Conservancy is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and stewarding the legacy of renowned landscape architects Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver. Established in 2005, this Salem-based nonprofit has made significant strides in archiving their personal and business records. In 2015, with the generous support of the community, the Conservancy purchased Gaiety Hollow, the personal home, garden, and studio of Lord and Schryver, located at 545 Mission Street in Salem, Oregon. The garden has been meticulously restored to its period of significance, transforming the site into a vibrant cultural and educational center for the community.

Impact of the Conservancy

The Conservancy offers a variety of programs, including lectures and workshops, and the gardens are available for educational and cultural events. Open on select days or by appointment, Gaiety Hollow serves as a hub for community engagement and learning.
