Our Story

Founded in 1985, the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) began as a grassroots effort to unite nonprofits and community partners in the fight against homelessness. Over the years, LICH has evolved, securing funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to enhance and expand services tailored to local needs.

As the leading entity addressing homelessness on Long Island, LICH provides essential housing-focused case management, a helpline for resource navigation, and coordinates referrals to dedicated housing programs.
