Our Story

Founded in 1980, the Long Beach Historical and Preservation Society is dedicated to educating the public about the rich heritage of Long Beach, New York. This all-volunteer organization operates a museum that showcases the city’s architectural, cultural, and social history. With a permanent charter from the New York State Department of Education and National Register status from the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Society is committed to preserving the past for future generations.

Our Impact

The Long Beach Historical Society safeguards thousands of historical artifacts, documents, and photographs. These treasures are accessible to the public through themed exhibitions and research opportunities. The Society also offers guided house tours and local history activities for schools, fostering a love for history among young learners.

Significant restoration work is urgently needed at the museum, including the restoration of all 47 windows and repairs to the basement and chimney.
