Our Story

Lodi Adopt-A-Child began in the mid-eighties when a compassionate street cop, Dennis Lewis, recognized the need for support among families struggling to provide a joyful Christmas for their children. With a simple idea to gather funds for gifts and food, he helped nine children that first year. As the demand grew, the community rallied together to 'adopt a child for Christmas,' leading to the establishment of Lodi Adopt-A-Child as a nonprofit organization in 1989. Since then, LAAC has dedicated itself to ensuring that thousands of underprivileged children in the Lodi area experience the joy of the holiday season.

Impact

Each year, Lodi Adopt-A-Child provides Christmas gifts to between 650 and over 1100 children, ensuring they receive essential clothing and toys. Beyond the holiday season, LAAC supports local sports teams and individual child sponsorships through its Play Lodi program, which covers entry fees for various activities, promoting healthy development and community engagement.
