Loaves & Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley Inc
EIN: 74-2589451 · Harlingen, TX
Our Story
Founded in 1991, Loaves and Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley emerged from a deep commitment to assist indigent families in Harlingen and the Upper Cameron County Area. Initially, the organization operated a food kitchen known as the Bread of Life Dining Hall, serving those in dire need. Over the years, services expanded to include job search assistance through the New Hope Job Shop, and emergency family assistance, which encompasses both men's and women's shelters under the Open Arms Homeless Shelter. Today, the organization has broadened its reach to include a Community Health Nurse and Mental Health Counselors as part of the Great Physician Healthy Living initiative, extending operations to Raymondville and the Willacy County Area.
Our Impact
In 2023, Loaves and Fishes served 85,329 meals, provided 5,334 bed nights in the shelter, and offered $121,389 in financial aid through Family Emergency Assistance.
