Our Story

Founded in 1989 by Steve O'Neil and Angie Miller, Loaves and Fishes Community began as a humble initiative to provide shelter for war refugees and individuals experiencing homelessness. Starting from a single family home on Jefferson Street, the movement quickly grew as more volunteers joined the cause, leading to the establishment of two houses of hospitality. As part of the Catholic Worker Movement, Loaves and Fishes embodies the principles of community organizing and empowerment, emphasizing the dignity of every person.
