Livonia Junior Athletic League

Our Story

Founded over sixty years ago by Norbert Kopekin, William Black, and Wally Beers, the Livonia Junior Athletic League (LJAL) began with a simple mission: to provide sports opportunities for the youth of Livonia. Starting with the Livonia Hawks, the league has expanded to include four units: the Blue Jays, Eagles, Falcons, and Orioles. Today, LJAL offers a variety of sports programs, including basketball, baseball, fast pitch softball, football, cheerleading, and lacrosse, all aimed at fostering citizenship, sportsmanship, and physical development among children.

Impact

Over the past six decades, thousands of boys and girls have participated in LJAL programs, making it one of the largest and most respected junior athletic leagues in Michigan. The league not only promotes athletic skills but also instills values of teamwork and community.
