About Litquake

Founded in 1999 at the Edinburgh Castle pub, Litquake began as a humble reading series in Golden Gate Park. Over the years, it has evolved into the largest independent literary festival on the West Coast, showcasing the vibrant literary scene of San Francisco. With a mission to connect readers and writers, Litquake presents a diverse array of literary events, from poetry readings in cathedrals to discussions on science and religion in libraries.

Impact on the Community

Since its inception, Litquake has proudly presented over 11,500 authors to nearly 300,000 attendees, fostering a love for literature and encouraging community engagement.
