Incorporated in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1952, the Lithuanian American Community is dedicated to nurturing the Lithuanian language, heritage, and community. Initially formed by approximately 30,000 Lithuanian World War II political refugees, LAC has played a pivotal role in the cultural and civic life of Lithuanian Americans.
LAC members have significantly contributed to Lithuania's independence movement and have been active in various Lithuanian American organizations. Their efforts include organizing educational workshops in Lithuania and lobbying for NATO membership, which was successfully achieved in 2002.
