For over 50 years, Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County has dedicated itself to fostering a literate society. Founded by Ruth Colvin in 1962, this organization has evolved from a volunteer initiative into a comprehensive program that addresses the diverse literacy needs of the community.
Each year, approximately 200 adult learners benefit from our free tutoring services in reading, writing, and English for speakers of other languages. This vital instruction empowers individuals to improve their skills and seize better opportunities.
