Our Story

The Literacy Center began its journey in 1992 as a vital initiative of the United Way of Northern Arizona. By 1995, it became an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., earning recognition as the Organization of the Year by the Arizona Daily Sun. In 2002, a merger with Laubach Literacy International led to the formation of ProLiteracy Worldwide, the largest volunteer literacy organization globally. Today, LVCC proudly stands as a fully accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America, dedicated to enhancing literacy in Coconino County.

Impact

Through individualized instruction, The Literacy Center significantly improves the basic English language and literacy skills of adults, teens, children, and families, enriching their personal, economic, and community lives.
