Our Story
Founded in 1971, Literacy Services of Indian River County began with a small group of dedicated women who recognized the urgent need for adult literacy services. Initially operating from local churches, the organization has grown significantly, establishing its first Board of Directors in 1975 and receiving its nonprofit designation in 1981. Today, Literacy Services operates in libraries across the county, proudly partnering with United Way and Pro Literacy to enhance the lives of adults through education.
