Our Story

The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a passionate group of Montgomery County residents dedicated to improving literacy. Today, LCN supports over 500 adult learners annually, providing essential skills in reading, writing, math, and English. In 2022, LCN expanded its mission by launching family and community literacy programs, distributing over 15,000 books to families in Norristown.

Impact

In the past year, LCN has educated 550 adult students through various programs, including GED and ESOL classes. The organization has also distributed more than 20,000 books to children, fostering a love for reading and learning. With nearly 2,000 children enrolled in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, LCN's impact continues to grow.

Why Donate

Your contributions are vital to sustaining and expanding LCN's programs. In honor of our 40th anniversary, a donation of $4,400 supports a site with an instructor for a year, while $400 provides essential resources for family literacy. Even $40 can provide an adult learner with a book. Every dollar counts in our mission to enhance literacy in our community.
