Our Story

In 1973, a vision emerged in the Lisbon Mount Vernon Community to establish a dedicated ambulance service. This vision became a reality in 1974 when a group of passionate volunteers raised funds to purchase an ambulance, leading to the formation of the Lisbon Mount Vernon Ambulance Service (LMVAS). For nearly 50 years, LMVAS has been committed to delivering quality emergency medical services across a 150 square mile area, serving over 6,000 residents.

Impact

LMVAS transports approximately 350 patients annually, ensuring timely and effective emergency care. The organization is dedicated to training new Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and actively engages student volunteers from Cornell College, fostering a new generation of qualified medical personnel.
